Smurf's Storehouse |
I've been thinking a lot of this holiday and what a huge day it is for our country. It's probably the only day a large majority of people will actually pause and give thanks for what they have.
"Alright, enough of this-what's the deal with the picture? Are you kidding me--Smurfs?"
"I was coming to that part of the post, but needed an opening."
"Well do you mind getting to it? The Rose Parade is beginning any minute."
As I'm having my quiet time yesterday-I'm thinking of this holiday and how as a Christian-I'm thankful everyday. Every time I pray I'm filled with Thanksgiving for what Christ has done for me. I spent the day today with my daughter and I'm overcome with Thanksgiving for being able to be with her. I married and moved away from my mother when I was 21; my mother and I never had a chance to have what we have. I cherish her and the time she is with me.
And if you have ever had a child to marry I have an enormous Thanksgiving for my son-in-law. He is a kind man who cares for others, has a smile that melts your heart, and is kind to my daughter.
My son is still living at home and I experience Thanksgiving for who he is--a kind man. He has a funny sense of humor, loyal to his friends, and he loves his sister and brother-in-law very much.
Every morning is Thanksgiving when my husband sets out my favorite green coffee cup by the maker; and offers to refill my cup before he leaves for work. I literally wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today without my husband--it's always been him who pushes me and catches me when I fall.
Thanksgiving past; those memories that I can bring up in a second. Gathering at my grandparent's house along with my four cousins. Watching MaGoo on t.v. while the adults ate in the kitchen and then it was our turn. The big moment when I turned 13 and was allowed to eat with the adults. The year my grandfather was shaking the whip creme can and accidentally sprayed us all and himself. The love and the laughter--and now that I have a few years under my belt--the work that goes into the meal.
"This is great but I'm really curious about the storehouse."
The thought came to me that we should not be hoarders of our blessings--but a storehouse. Maybe our blessings shouldn't be held so tightly but allowed to be shared, in order to bless others.
"But what about the Smurfs?"
I think they're cute! Happy Thanksgiving! |

I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.
We have an advantage as followers of Christ, yes? We are encouraged to "give thanks in all circumstances". Thanksgiving as a way of life...
