Accentuate the Positive

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude verse 22

Keep yourselves in the love of God, Keep up the grace of love to God in it's lively vigorous actings and exercises in your souls. Looking for mercy--Eternal life is to be looked for only through mercy; mercy is our only plea, not merit.

It is said, not only through the mercy of God as our Creator, but through the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ as Redeemer; all who come to heaven must come thither through our Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, but that of the Lord Jesus only. Acts 4:12

A believing expectation of eternal life will arm us against the snares of sin (2 Peter 3:14), a lively faith of the blessed hope will help us to mortify our cursed lusts. (Matthew Henry)

I'm finished with Jude; the only reason I read it was one morning when I woke up the book of Jude was in my head. Anytime Christ is talking about our faith; it is loaded with positive adjectives and adverbs. A believing expectation, a lively faith, ect. I'm always struck by the fact that our faith--my faith--is destined to grow. Whenever our faith is not growing, deepening, expanding,--we need to stop and look within.

Looking Glass: I missed the last day of school with the kids yesterday. My husband had a biking accident Tuesday and ended up with a moderate concussion. I was eating lunch Tuesday and get a call from the ER to come to the hospital. Split second--things change. It made me realize how much I do value him and put some things into perspective. The only constant thing in life is Christ.

You are right... life can change instantly. We have so much to be grateful for, and not take for granted.

I hope your husband makes a speedy recovery.
