My daughter's father-in-law suffered a stroke last Saturday. He is in his fifties, which I consider young. I've only been around him a few times; he married my daughter and his son. He is a pastor; quiet - with a sense of humor.
As we are in the ICU waiting room, people come in to visit, lives that he had touched. A girl was telling me that when her father was ill, Jackie Sr. stayed with them in the hospital and when he passed away, he took care of all the funeral arrangements. He also did the same when her mom passed away and this time he took her children home in order for her to take care of things.
His daughter mentioned to me that she never realized how much he did for people; because he never talked about it. This statement touched my heart. I have a caring attitude but do I go the extra mile for people? Am I willing to be inconvenienced to help someone else?
Matthew Henry's dying words were this: "A life spent in the service of God and communion with Him, is the most comfortable and pleasant life that one can live in the present world".
When things happen and our lives are shaken; the good things always come to the top. Even as Jackie Sr. lays recovering, he is ministering God's love to people.

What a really wonderful man. I hope he recovers. Thanks for sharing. It's a reminder to me that I should be more giving.
He sounds like a lovely, unselfish man. We could all learn a lesson from him.
