Well...he took off on the trail, I walked slowly behind him. It was dark and dense; I thought I could smell decay in the air. The trees were closing in on me and all I could think of was wild hogs suddenly appearing in a pack ready to maul my tender body. We rounded a corner and I refused to look up as I walked...I didn't want to see them running towards me. I had no weapon.
That's when it happened...the shrieking! I started shaking and tears were falling as I grabbed on to him for dear life. I knew this was the end....
"Let's go..this is it!" I yelled.
"It's only geese flying overhead...it's only geese!."
Oh...I didn't really care at that point my world had been shaken by what I thought was a near death experience. I finished the trail in shame...what on earth happened to me back there. We exited out the way we had come in...the trail was circular..maybe a quarter of a mile....more shame. I entered the truck quietly determined to be redeemed at some point that morning...with another trail!
To Be Continued.......
