It's Up to You

Power Thoughts:

All of us have the privilege and responsibility of choosing our attitudes, no matter what circumstances or situations we find ourselves in.  The key word here is choosing.  Attitudes don't just happen, they are the products of our choices over time, the thought patterns established in our minds can put us on "autopilot", which means that when certain types of situations occur, we are preprogrammed to think about them in certain ways.

We have to interrupt this autopilot function and learn to stop our minds from going in the directions they have gone for years if that direction is not producing good things in our lives.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. (Winston Churchill)

If we keep our attitudes up and positive, we will continue to climb higher and higher in life and be able to soar.  But if our attitudes are down and negative, we will fall and stay on the ground of life, never able to make the journeys God intends for us or reach the destinations He has planned for us.

What do you believe is the most important thought or attitude you need to change in your life?
(Joyce Meyer)

That last paragraph was a "light-bulb" moment for me; the journey is hard because of what I'm using for fuel.  My thoughts are killing the momentum.  The most important thought or attitude that I need to change is looking at the negative side of things--immediately.  I'm heightening my awareness of the language that I use--the Spirit is upping my sensitivity to what I am saying and how I am saying it.

I'm taking a media class now--thinking I might get an add on media degree.  I have at least ten more years of teaching--probably more Lord willing.  I've been going to school since I was thirty-five in which I got my teaching degree.  My masters in my forties and half-way through my specialist when I side tracked to this.  Whenever I get "settled" I will upset everything by pursuing something.  I'm always amazed at this college thing because growing up I was never considered very smart.  I struggled through school and the only thing that saved me was the fact that I was an avid reader.  I was the first one to actually graduated from high school in my family.  My grandparents never went higher than elementary and my parents never graduated from high school.

I said all of that because I'm always amazed at the direction the Lord will lead you in; I have always given Him the praise for being able to continue with education.  It is true that He takes the weak and will use them; if they allow Him to work.  I'm really not that "smart" (my husband would fit that description) but I am humbled that I do what I do--if any of this makes sense.

You grow the deepest when you are out of your comfort zone.

Wow, this is exactly what I had to face recently and am working on. It's too easy to slip back if we aren't careful, and monitor our thoughts.

I like the mental image about the fuel... I immediately thought of my "car" sputtering and making knocking noises. My mind definitely needed a tune-up!
