What's Your Goliath?

And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
1 Samuel 17: 48-50

(cliff notes)
A Philistine named Goliath, was taunting the children of Israel. He camped outside their city for 40 days, waiting for someone to come and fight him. He was eleven feet tall and armed from head to toe with armor. The only thing showing was his forehead. David was there to bring his brothers some food from his father. He saw what was going on and knew the Lord wanted him to defeat this giant. He couldn't take it that Goliath was being disrespectful to God and Israel. Without any armor, he picked up a stone and killed him.

What are you facing that seems to be insurmountable? David faced Goliath, but we all have our "Goliaths" of today. David had complete trust in the Lord and moved forward. He was also in the Spirit and didn't act without God's direction. I noticed that he took immediate action, didn't spend a lot of time debating whether it should be done or not. He heard from the Lord and went right to battle.

This was a wonderful post for me to read, this day. It brought tears to my eyes... knowing what God and I were just talking about.

Two things came to mind immediately... One, for the first time when I read something like this, I did NOT think of losing weight as my Goliath. That was a done deal.

And two, I could see how God is helping me with this current Goliath, and has even provided the tools, the sling and stone, and has a plan. This is so encouraging, thank you.
