Saturday's Musings

Wealth consists not in having great possessions but in having few wants -
Esther De Waal

I like that quote; found it in a magazine as I'm waiting in the Doctor's office this week. No, I did not tear it out (although the thought did travel across my mind); but I found a scrap piece of paper in my purse and copied it. Which brings me to my next point--I really need to keep a pad of paper with me at all times. I'm always coming across something and would like to write it down.

I read a book this week called, "The Man Who Did Not Wash His Dishes". No joke-it was written in 1950 and when I looked it up this morning, it's worth around $50.00. I have the original paperback in my possession! I read it to my students and of all things this book made an impression on me. A man who never married was a good cook and one night after supper, he didn't feel like washing the dishes. So he, with good intentions, put it off until the next night. Through-out the book night after night he never washed the dishes. He had used up everything in his house to eat out of and there came a day when that was it; nothing was left. He had a huge problem, which he had created himself!

It came a rainy day and he loaded everything up and took the dishes outside for the rain to wash them. Moral of the story--he never went to bed again without washing his dishes. The kids loved it; because the man was eating out of a soap dish, flower-pots, vases, ect. I wake up in the middle of the night this week thinking about that story. How so many times I create these huge problems of my own making! Rain comes, (God's Grace) and gives me the opportunity to begin anew.

Not much-it's been a week. Really didn't know if I wanted to keep writing or not; (get the crying towel out) sometimes my self-worth comes under attack and I feel like Jonah who hid in the stomach of a whale! Guess I better hit a few of my blogs; I haven't been on the computer literally since last Sunday.

Sounds like a funny story!

I know about the self-worth thing! Hope you have a good rest of the weekend. :-)

I really miss you when you don't write. Keep it up!

That is a great story!
I think that my weight has been a problem I've created in that way. Very interesting parallel...

If someone were to ask you to finish this sentence, what would you say:

I started my blog because.....

Then refine it, boil it down to a short sentence or two... and put it up where you can see it daily.

Lots of times when I read your blog, I can feel God's smile. I would miss it if you stopped.
