Sunday Ramblings

Ramble - to talk or write aimlessly; without connection of ideas

I teach reading in a school that services three projects and a homeless shelter. There are 497 students and 2 of those are white, the rest are black. I have one the students, Benjamin (large ghost top eraser), who is in first grade. As I'm walking the group back to their classrooms, one of the students suddenly just stops. Jhalil looked at Benjamin and exclaimed that he has green eyes. Then Jhalil looked at me and said that I had blue green eyes and made the declaration that I was white. I said, really I'm white and he affirmed it. He told me with great importance that white people have different color eyes and they have all the same color. I told him his eyes were a beautiful dark brown and we went on to class. This is why I love children, they are direct in their observations and sincere--no hidden agendas!

I opened up a card from Hallmark this week and the coupon said I was going to get a large box of chocolates FREE! As I read the fine print it said I had to buy $35.00 worth of products to receive this FREE item. In the words of Joe Wilson--"You lie"!

FREE - with no charge or cost (Webster 3rd edition) There are 25 definitions of the word free.

The coupon should have read, "If you buy $35 worth of products; we will throw in a box of chocolates that didn't cost us a dime".

One last rambling that comes with an adult warning! I'm watching tv and the infamous commercial comes on talking about Cialis. You know the commercial; two adults are holding hands across two bathtubs as they gaze into the sunset. If it's on tv then in some part of the world this must be somebody's reality! Let's see--when was the last time my husband and I sat in a bathtub holding hands and gazed into the sunset-----Oh, I remember---never!

It's going to be a good week; I have the week off for Thanksgiving!

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2

This was great!! Those lying bastards ('scuse me) on those marketing scams....that really burns me up! And people wonder why I'm so cynical about ads...THIS IS WHY.

And that tv ad w/the 2 tubs? I wonder who thought THAT one up! I guess they figured there was no easy way to talk about THAT. They have a Dormia bed ad that's also sitting outside...bizarre!
