I am currently involved in a Beth Moore Bible Study on Sunday nights. What makes this unique is I don't like Bible studies; I have purposely stayed away from them for years. I would buy the book, go a few sessions and then quit. I never could keep it up.
Several weeks ago someone mentioned this Bible study. I considered it and asked a friend who I thought could use it to go with me. I would go if she would go; then I would know it was God directed. Well she couldn't go; and yet I still felt this persistent need to attend. That's when I knew it was God directed that I go!
I went and as soon as I walked in I felt that God had handed me a special gift. I have been craving fellowship with Christian women for a long time. I teach Pre-K Sunday School and I'm removed from groups. I love this Bible study and am thankful that I obeyed the Spirit's prompting.
Okay-back to the title of this blog. This morning I'm studying how to live by the Spirit and Beth Moore made a statement that really spoke to me.
Beloved, one of our biggest reasons for failure in daily struggles is our vain attempt to balance the Spirit and the flesh--to make them function as coworkers. It is absolutely impossible. It has nothing to do with strength versus weakness. It's just not possible. They can't work together because they are polar opposites.
As women, we are always trying to "balance" things. Remember my struggle with the 1/2 sandwich? We have already overcome sin through Christ; but today I need to focus more on allowing the Spirit to have control in order that my flesh will become weaker.
Sorry-one of the blog rules is to keep it short! I didn't think I would have anything to say this morning.
