Rubber Meets the Road

I Love People and I Enjoy Helping Them

I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another.  Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.  John 13:34

The Roman philosopher, Seneca, made a statement we all need to remember:  "Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness."  If I could only preach one message, it would probably be this:  Get your mind off of yourself and spend your life trying to see how much you can do for others.

Real love has little to do with gooey emotions and goose bumps; and it has everything to do with the choices we make about the way we treat people.  Real love is not theory or talk--it's action.  Real love meets needs even when sacrifice is required in order to do so.  It is a decision concerning the way we behave in our relationships with other people.

Let us not love in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth.  1 John 3:18

If we really want to walk in love, we will do what is right. (Joyce Meyers-Power Thoughts)

Where the rubber meets the road is the most important point for something, the moment of truth. An athlete can train all day, but the race is where the rubber meets the road and they'll know how good they really are.
A phrase which has a meaning that is commonly understood by speakers of the language, but whose meaning is often different from the normal meaning of the words is called an idiom. (sited in blue)

I grew up hearing this phrase and understood that it meant time to stop talking and start walking the walk.  Just wake up every morning and look for ways to be nice--just nice to someone.  We are not a civil society anymore--and I'm pointing the finger at myself (at times) as well.  I have to be careful with my tongue--not saying snide remarks that are funny (to me) but unkind towards the other person.  (My daughter pointed this out to me--never to old to learn)

Kindness Has a Ripple Effect--Be the First Drop
