Light at the End of the Tunnel

Rule #2:  Realize the Rough Times Won't Last Forever

Some of the trying situations we find ourselves in seem to go on far too long.  When this happens, we are usually tempted to complain or become discouraged.  Instead, we need to promptly adjust our attitudes and ask God to teach us something valuable as we pass through the situation at hand.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  James 1: 2-3

God uses trials and pressure to produce good results in our lives.  Sometimes His blessings come through unexpected circumstances we may view as negative, but if we will keep positive attitudes in the midst of those situations, we will experience the positive results God desires to give us.

Your trials are temporary; they won't last forever.  Better days are on their way.  Just keep your attitude "up" instead of "down" and remember that this is just a season and it will pass.  When David faced the giant Goliath, he remembered the lion and the bear he had already defeated and it gave him courage in his current situation.  (Joyce Meyer--Power Thoughts)

Anytime I'm in a "situation" I always try to tell myself that thirty days from now it will be different.  Or, maybe a year from now it will be different.  Tunnels don't go on forever; there is another opening at the end.  We celebrated my daughter's father-in-law recovery from his stroke--one year ago this past Sunday.  This is a testimony of how something extremely negative,  a year later,  we can see how God has brought him and the family through this horrific time.

My niece, who had breast cancer, went through the process of chemo and a year later is healed.  Her attitude was a lesson to me in how we should face trying times.  I sat with her during one of her treatments and she was ministering to others.

Just like David, when trying times are upon us we need to look back at how God has worked in our lives.  Remember the successes and draw courage from those to forge ahead.
