I guess you are never to old to bring a crises on yourself! I have a power-point due this Thursday and for some reason I put it off. I spent all day Saturday getting my household organized from a week of work; spent all day Sunday at the fair (well worth the corn dog and funnel cake), telling myself that I would work on it when I got back. Sunday night I told myself that I would finish it on Monday and last night made a teary phone call to my daughter for assistance.
After spending all day with her in-laws; she came over and helped me with my power-point. It did require a trip to the computer lab due to the antiquity of my computer at home. An hour and half later, the project is completed--well almost--I need to work on the last slide. Arriving home I had a kitchen to clean, lunches to pack, and you get the picture! Let's just say that I saw twelve o'clock last night--come and go.
My son's girlfriend (Nicole) gave me a book entitled: POWER THOUGHTS by Joyce Meyers--it must have been directed by God himself because this book is wonderful. I am not a positive person by nature, leaning towards the morose at times. The chapter I'm reading deals with setting your mind now - before things happen. Decide now how you will respond when life hits you full in the face.
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2
Here are a few bullets from this chapter:
*I am not going to think bad thoughts about other people and I am not going to gossip. I will not gossip. When someone around me begins to talk to me about someone else critically, I will not let myself get involved in it. I am not going to participate in ruining someone's reputation. I will not offend the Holy Spirit.
*I am not going to overeat when I sit down for meals today. I will stop when I begin to feel full. I will make good food choices and I will not eat emotionally.
*I am not going to be excessive in any area of life. I am a balanced person. I am not going to complain about anything. I have a lot to be thankful for and I will think on those things.
*I am going to live to please God, not people. I want to be accepted but I will not compromise my faith and moral integrity.
*I am going to eliminate unnecessary stress from my life. I will slow down, not overcommit, and try to keep life as simple as possible.
*I am going to think positive thoughts and speak positive words.

I'm trying to work on being positive and not complaining. That seems to be something I find myself doing a lot.
Wow, the excerpts from that book make me want to run right out and get a copy! Thanks for sharing those. I can see several areas that I still need to work on. :-O
What a nice gift from your girlfriend-in-law. ;-)
