I'm part of the women's ministry at our church and we had planned a retreat for out of town this weekend. I was glad it was out of town because I really don't like functions of this nature--things that take up the whole weekend. When you work full-time and go to school; your Saturdays are an important part of pulling things together for the next week.
A month ago things changed and they brought the retreat to our church--drats (yes, some people still say it)--I thought I was in the clear. I'm in charge of the door prizes and part of the planning so now I had to attend the retreat--which is four minutes from my house. It started last night until 9:30 and all day today until 3:00. Did I mention all day today---until three?
You know where this is going---I love it! The group Beloved is leading the conference on finding your personality and learning how God can use you. This group also sings, they are very funny, and as I'm singing last night, clapping, and praising God--I heard a little voice, "I told you so".
I tend to hold time very tightly in my little hands; not wanting to release it to the Lord. Doesn't the Lord know I have "my plans", "my agenda", things I "need to do"? I shared with some of the ladies my lack of enthusiasm concerning the weekend; and they had the same feelings. I need to learn to trust the Lord and release this notion that time is mine.
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the TIME, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5: 15-16
redeeming - to set free, to make amends, to fulfill, to restore, to make worthwhile

Thanks for this post! I needed to hear it. I too plan my days tightly and don't like interruptions or changes. But I know the times are His.
