On June 3rd I traveled to Ohio with my daughter, son-in-law, and husband. They spent the weekend which allowed my daughter to spend time with her grandfather. I stayed for two weeks helping my parents with spring cleaning. I was able to spend a lot of time with my grandfather.
**I learned from this to take time spent with people seriously. We don't know the future and spending time with family is important. Relationships are worth the time and effort; they broaden our lives.
June 27th my grandfather passed away and we went back to Ohio for the funeral. I had mentioned to my brother last year at my daughter's wedding; let's not wait until another wedding or funeral before we see each other. Last year a wedding--this year a funeral.
July 9th we traveled to South Carolina and I left for Ohio with my sister-in-law. We spent a week with an aunt who lives in the country to help her with some cleaning. I learned that I can survive without air conditioning, fox news, and the internet. It was a good week of three women working together and spending time with each other.
**I learned that I really didn't know what "work" was until I stayed with her for a week. This generation coming from World War II is an extremely hard working and resourceful generation. There is a lot to learn from our elders and spending time with them would benefit us. There is also something special being in the company of just women; we do share a unique bond.
July 16th I went back to my parent's house to spend time with my mother. The loss of my grandfather--her father--affected her deeply. Later that week I was getting tired of being away from my routine. As I was sitting in the living room one morning, surrounded by negative thinking - a Bible story pushed through my thoughts. It was Jesus washing the feet of his disciples--with no complaints or thoughts of himself.
My husband came on the 23rd and we spent a few days in Knoxville before coming back to Georgia on the 26th. We went to Cumberland Caves and there is nothing like being 325 feet below the surface to make you aware of how small we really are.
I start back to work next week and another school year will begin. It's been a good summer.

It was a great week working and having fun together! Three women can actually get along and accomplish something at the same time!!
What a summer... it sounds like it had highs and lows, deeply touching times, tender bonding times, learning times and sweet memory-making times... how wonderful.
I like how God can bring to our remembrance just the right truths at the right time, to help with our attitudes. I'm guilty of not liking "my" routine disrupted. I'll have to re-read that story of Jesus washing the feet.
Welcome back. :-)
