Literally, I'm taking a break from cleaning right now. Anything that could be mopped has been; so now it's off to vacuuming. It's been a strange week at school--finding bullets in the adult bathrooms, which are located on the outside. So now they had to change all of the locks due to people jumping our fences and doing something in the bathrooms. I really don't want to know--I carry a can of Lysol with me now.
One of my second grade students and her first grade brother had brought prescription pills to school and were passing them out to kids on Friday. A pre-k student had to be rushed to the hospital. While the principal is talking to the mother, she is texting to her friends,,doesn't care a bit. Which is why her kids are bringing pills to school--and the cycle continues to spin--round and round.
Another fifth grade student had sharpened sticks up his sleeve to be used to stab someone. They found a bag of white powder on the school grounds. Just another week at the projects! I can't wait until spring, because that is when the rats come up from the ground and we have to carry yardsticks with us. Hey, OBama-come make a visit to where I teach! We are a prime example of how total dependency on the government can destroy human dignity and pride.
It is beautiful today--64 and the sun is shining. I'm getting ready to head on over to the track and make a few rounds. The older I get, the less it takes to bring me happiness. We ate lunch outside today and it was nice. My husband asked why I wasn't talking--and I told him I was--in my head. I had forgotten he was sitting there! I don't know if it's normal--but I always have some kind of conversation happening, inside, where nobody can hear.
No, put down the phone, I'm really not crazy!

Oh, sweetie! I'd no idea you worked under such tenuous circumstances!
Bullets? Drugs? Weapons?? My God! I so admire people like you who are willing to brave this environment to try and educate these children.
God Bless You! And...be SAFE!
I was going to say exactly what Kathryn said... I had no idea!! Now I can see how significant it is that your principle is a Christian, and prays each morning.
You, your principle, and other believers, are truly candles shining in the darkness there. And you may not know til heaven what kind of influence for good that you had... but I know without a doubt that you are doing something priceless. That you are planting seeds into the lives of those children, that God can use in their future.
That is a precious thing. Unseen heroes... but God sees.
