Merry Christmas Eve

Yes, I changed the name of my blog. Somehow through the journey of blogging, my age doesn't seem so relevant anymore. I like this title better, it fits me. Welcome to my new follower--that's a nice Christmas present!

Something strange happened in Dick's Sporting Goods last night. I was at the check-out with my $20 gift card and the clerk asked if I wanted to give a dollar to St. Jude. I said no, not at this time (yes, I give to charity a lot) nicely. She looked at me and said, "Not even a dollar?" I looked at her and said (still very nice) no, not at this time. My bill was $21.16 and I got my wallet out and she said, not very nicely, there is no charge. I asked her if she took that dollar to put towards St. Jude and she got all flustered and told me no.

This has bothered me all night, why didn't I just give a dollar? She doesn't know that I give to charity, now she thinks I'm a grinch. I'll probably see her in church this Sunday! Oh, I didn't mention the man in a wheel chair next to me who gave $5.00 to St. Jude!! I'm going to Publix this morning for something and if they are collecting for St. Jude, I'll double the amount.

And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manager, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

I love the scriptures surrounding the birth of Christ. There is something so comforting when I read them. My only problem is that I hear the voice of Charlie Brown as I read these verses.

Merry Christmas to all!

I have been in that position many times, with people trying to coerce a donation. I always remember the scripture about God wanting us to give from a willing heart, and not under compulsion.

And God knows our hearts, and the other places that He has laid on our heart to support. I am sure He is pleased with your faithfulness to those gentle nudgings.

Merry Christmas!
